Tartan Magnetic Filter Concept Animation

This animation demonstrates how Tartan's automated magnetic filtration system operates. Magnetic rods encased in non-magnetic sleeves are contained within the vessel. When contaminated natural gas enters the system, ferrous particles adhere to the sleeves of the rods while clean natural gas exits the system. The sleeves are cleaned by lifting the magnetic rods and spraying the former with washing fluids. The separated contaminants are collected in a bag filter attached to the vessel, and the washing fluids are recycled.

Particle Streamline

ANSYS Fluent software was used to simulate Tartan's magnetic filtration system and analyse the velocity profile inside of the vessel. This video shows an animation of the particle streamlines and their velocity profiles.

Particle Pathline and Velocity

ANSYS Fluent software was used to simulate Tartan's magnetic filtration system and analyse the velocity profile inside of the vessel. This video shows an animation of the pathlines taken by particles and their velocity profiles as a pulse of natural gas enters and exits the vessel.

Magnetic Analysis

Murata Software's Femtet 2019 was used to simulate Tartan's magnetic filtration system and analyse the magnetic field experienced by an iron particle in various positions inside the vessel. The image on the right depicts the magnetic field surrounding three magnetic rods in the filter.
